As a six year old, Andrew sat at the piano and pressed on the white keys, telling everybody he was playing the "Angels" song, because it sounded like angels to him. His mother had died after a tough battle with leukemia, and his imagination was filled with visions of the afterlife.
Andrew learned to play piano the traditional way, back straight, fingers curved, eyes at the music. But he always preferred improvising and composing, exploring made-up melodies, chords, rhythms and soundscapes. His talent and hard work paid off, earning him a full ride scholarship at BYU-Idaho, where he studied jazz music and philosophy. Jazz broadened his sonic color palette, while his philosophy studies broadened his understanding of the world and cosmos.
His twenties were filled with exciting new experiences and trying times, including leaving the church and finding his own unique path. Tragically his dad died of suicide after a long fight with an auto-immune disease that affected his brain and spinal cord. Grief and trauma often lead to reconsidering your path, and after working through the depression, he made a commitment to Mother Earth to use his bones, muscles and imagination to make nourishing music for wandering souls.
When you enjoy Andrew's live sets, you may feel inspired and awe-struck; primordial oneness and ego-death may occur. Or you might just get excited by the extreme creativity and danceable vibes. You will feel like you have met a forever friend on this eternal journey of the universe.
